Yorkshire businesses are being invited to save on the cost and pain of cyber-attacks by taking an IT security audit that will directly support local charities in their fight against cancer.
Leeds firm's drive to wipe out viruses in support of cancer charities

Leeds-based IT, networks and systems company Dynamic Networks Group is giving businesses in the region access to comprehensive network security testing at a reduced rate, in return for donations to St Gemma’s Hospice and Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Managing director James Baird explains: “With IT security breaches currently costing UK small and medium sized businesses billions of pounds every year, protecting vital business data and closing gaps that expose businesses to online risk is essential.

“Security breaches can be catastrophic for businesses – both financially and from a reputation perspective. With permitted access to business systems, we will carry out a penetration test and show businesses how easy it could be for them to come under attack. We will then outline how they can close down gaps in security to ensure that customer, employee and supplier data is kept safe.

“The usual cost of this service is £500, but we are offering our time free of charge to run network security tests for 40 businesses in Yorkshire.  In return, we are asking for a £250 donation. All of the money raised will be split equally between Pancreatic Cancer UK and St Gemma’s Hospice, and we’re hoping to raise £10,000.”

James, who lost his father to cancer last year, adds, “Both Pancreatic Cancer UK and St Gemma’s Hospice are very close to my heart. We were keen to raise money whilst at the same time supporting businesses with their IT security needs.  By getting involved, businesses will be able to access state of the art network testing services at a significantly reduced rate, knowing that they are directly supporting two fantastic causes.”

Dynamic Networks Group provides IT services and support; structured cabling systems and wireless networks; access control and security systems; and business automation throughout Yorkshire and beyond.
