'Tis the season

Whatever your feelings on the Christmas period, there’s no denying that a little forward planning can make all the difference when it comes to alleviating stress around the main event.
'Tis the season

We’re not suggesting you start shopping for gifts in June or put your tree up in September, but giving a little thought now to how your business’ IT needs will be covered while the country is celebrating could make all the difference.

As the date creeps ever closer to December 25, it can be easy to get swept away by talk of the feasts and treats that await over the coming weeks. And while it’s tempting to turn your back on the working world in favour of a much deserved break, it’s also well worth bearing in mind that your company’s IT needs won’t be taking time off.

Whether your offices are fully open over the Christmas period, operating at reduced capacity or closed for the holidays, one thing that won’t change is your need for IT support. Yes, even if you’re planning on keeping work at a minimum for a few days while you and your staff get stuck into celebrating, your IT system keeps on working. Or does it?

Will your IT manager be available if needed over the festive break, or will they be at home tucking into a turkey dinner and a few glasses of wine? Likewise, your IT company, if you have one. Will they be open for business over Christmas, should you need them?

Unfortunately, we experienced first-hand the heartache that many businesses faced in recent year’s floods when their IT company wasn’t available to help over Christmas. While we sincerely hope nobody will experience anything on that scale again for a very long time, the fact remains that it’s well worth checking what support your IT company will be able to offer over the festive season. Are they closed? Open reduced hours? Or only available in an emergency?

We know how important it is for companies to know they’ve got IT support if they need it at all times. Our online support is available 24/7 throughout the Christmas period, and our support packages are tailored to your exact requirements. If your existing IT company can’t provide this level of support, talk to us – and ideally sooner, rather than later!

Nobody wants their business to end up a Christmas turkey, so be prepared now so that you can end 2017 in as strong a position as you’d like to start the coming New Year. Then you can put your feet up and relax over Christmas, safe in the knowledge that everything is under control.
