The Dynamic solution
Because of the building’s Grade II listing, a great deal of care needed to be taken and approval sought for all plans to ensure no damage occurred and alterations were sensitively carried out.
We provided a 10 GB network switching infrastructure, connecting everything to an OM4 fibre backbone to deliver high data speeds. This topology was designed with speed and resilience at the forefront. To further increase network performance, we installed satellite communications cabinets on some floors, which we linked with an 8-core fibre backbone designed for high data speeds.
We also provided terrestrial Freeview TV distribution throughout the hotel, and supplied and installed TV units ranging from 43” to 55” screens in each room.
To ensure that the wireless coverage for the whole hotel would be robust, we installed a number of access points to ensure full coverage. We also used a state of the art Ekahau heat mapping survey to create a virtual map of the site and simulate the impact of different
Wi-Fi access point locations. This enabled us to achieve maximum coverage with minimal access points throughout the building, providing the client with a cost-effective solution.
We also installed a wireless
CCTV system throughout the site, providing full coverage to all areas of the hotel. The system can be remotely monitored and managed across a range of devices, with scope to integrate cameras with other products – such as
door entry systems – to create a sophisticated access and security solution.
In the long term, we will be providing ongoing support for the Room
zzz Manchester Corn Exchange, as we do already for other Room
zzz locations, as well as a number of The Parklane Group businesses. This will include
IT support,
CCTV and
wireless, as well as proactive support for the services we provided during the renovations.
